I've seen that too, but not lately. Now i am seeing shops that went in
another direction coming back and saying they've found a niche for their
400 and may even want to get a newer version. The change-outs to the new
platform don't go just as easily as the sales people said it would,
hardware costs go over-budget and data conversions point out to management
which pieces of data are no longer being tracked.
Then when the training room performance bogs down with only 5 users and
everyone realizes there are 75+ people going to go live on that same
hardware in 15 days.... welll, suddenly the right questions start being
asked.

Still there does seem to be a case for mixed platforms, and a case that
AS/400 programmers are stuck in old ways and something is needed to jolt
them into the 1990s.

        Subject: New names
Hi all,

Lately I see shop after shop moving away from the AS/400 to other
platforms such as NT, UNIX etc, But no new names to the AS/400 .

Is it only in Israel or all over ?

Thanks,
Avi
