The operating system which includes a completely integrated database, 
security, spooler, control language and compiler is shipped with every 
system.  Although the architecture is constantly evolving, it's a 
continuation of what we've had since System/38 in 1980.

Good ones have been written by Skip Marchessani and Sharon Hoffman.
