The SMTP standard requires that every mail server that touches an E-mail
message add an additional header to the message. That header usually
includes a timestamp, and is designed to help troubleshoot mail apps.

For example, the message that I'm replying to has these headers:

Received: from localhost (localhost.klements.com [127.0.0.1])
        by gateway.klements.com (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id VAA00718

If you read these from the bottom up, you'll see that you sent the message
at to imo-d08.mx.aol.com (one of AOL's mail servers) at 15:19:56 -0500.

That server sent it to David's ISP at uucphost.mcs.net at 14:20:03 -0600

It was received from UUCP by linux.midrange.com at 15:25:41 -0600

and so on and so forth.

Maybe that will help you diagnose the problem?
