There... I just sent a totally useless message <laughing>.  I was so ticked off 
at the tone of the last few exchanges that I hit the send button before I 
actually typed my message.

Okay, on to my message, which will probably be nearly as useless...

If this were JAVA400-L (where I moderate), I'd immediately hop in and say that 
while the original post ("And the practical application for this would 
be??????????") could have been stated a bit more tactfully, it still didn't 
merit the explosive attack and certainly wasn't worth starting an entire 
subthread.

Instead, I'd have pointed out that there are (relatively rare) times when a 
subsecond delay is needed, give an example or two, and be on my way.  And 
perhaps make a gentle comment about how sometimes knowledge for knowledge's 
sake is a beautiful thing.

And with that, I'll be on my way...
