We have a similar issue where our messages are also getting chopped up.  We
are on V4R2.  There is not a *NOMAX setting, do you know if there is a PTF
that would allow that or are we stuck at 2048 kilobytes?

        Is the file more than 1024K?  Try CHGPOPA and set message split to
*NOMAX.
