For those of us that have fought the battle of not wanting to use mySQL as a "great" database platform for web systems I came across this on another site I'm involved in. Thought you'd find it interesting (quoted w/permission) Hint: Don't _Ever_ allow an indexed table in MySQL to exceed about 300,000 records. This causes the database server (at least, in 3.22.x) to throttle and die while managing the indexes. :) -dT- Now, can you imagine this "great" database that can't handle record counts > 300,000. I have work files that are > 300,000 records. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516)627-3800 x11 WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
