Does >anyone know anything about these printers? This is reaching back into the dim recesses, but if I remember correctly a code 8 means a ribbon check. Pull out the "bat", rotate the ribbon advance knob a few times and put it back. My guess is that it's either stuck (won't advance) or it's getting snagged.
