RPG was originally written by IBM for the IBM 360. Admiral Grace Hopper was instrumental in the design of COBOL. In addition to being credited with coining the term "bug", I believe she once challenged a group of conservative programmers to take more risks by telling them "it's easier to apologize, than to ask for permission."
