Mike,

We have ten of those on a 170, and have had four failures within about a
year. Not as bad as your record, but still the worst of any AS/400 DASD
we've got. Thank God for RAID. I know of no solution.

Subject: Model 6717 Disk Drives

Anyone else out there having trouble with model 6717
8.58 GB disk drives?  We have at least one fail (or at
least say it's failing) every week.  Lucky for us we
haven't had two in the same RAID set fail yet.

Any solutions to this?  We've applied all the PTF's
IBM has told us to.
