The answer to all your question is yes. But (there is always a but) you must
setup and activate netserver on your AS/400. You can find the detailed
instruction in the information center. Do a search on NETSERVER.

good luck and have fun

First, what I think I know. Please correct/clarify.

A windows pc uses an LMHOSTS file to locate another pc on a remote lan?

The rcd layout of the LMHOSTS file is pc name and its ip addr ?

With the LMHOST file set, the network neighborhood of the pc will show all the
pc's on the local lan and all the reachable remote systems in the LMHOSTS file?

A file path name in the form: "\\SystemName\directory\file.ext" is spcfd to
have the "CopyFile" win32 api or vb equivalent copy a file from one system to
another?

Now my questions:

Can an as400 be spcfd as an entry in the LMHOSTS file of the windows pc?

If it is, will it show up in the network neighborhood of the pc?

Can the as400 system name be the target or source of the CopyFile run on the
windows pc?

Thanks all,

Steve Richter
