Try a WRKDEVD *TAP and look at the device type.
Or, WRKHDWRSC *STG and use '9=Work with resource' on any tape controller.

Remember, he said that this was for V5R2 that they are fading away.  Many
people don't read the 'memo to users' until a week or less before their
upgrade (fools!).  Could you replace your tape drive in this amount of
time?  I wouldn't think that IBM will send out information to specific
device users.  You just have to pay attention to announcements and read
that memo in a timely fashion.

How do we check what kind of tape drive we have?
I imagine somewhere in the *DEV area.
I trust the memo to users will be clear on what's going on here & IBM
hardware support will send some kind of notification to 6385 customers that

this support is evaporating.
