Did you mess w/IP filtering and security (Connection properties -> TCP/IP
Properties -> Advanced -> Options)? Or, if this machine is in a domain, did
the domain admin mess with these things in a group policy that governs this
machine? Also, did you play with Routing and Remote Access or Internet
Connection Sharing?

Also, looking back at your original post you say you have 2 NICs but only
one is in use. What is the other one doing? Nothing? If so why is it
configured w/IP?

I can ping the loopback. I can also ping my own interface. I was fooling
with the IP security rules and saw something about ICMP echo, I'll check
that again.

Problem is that I am really trying to connect to this box from another PC.
This box is setup to run Lansa's deployment tool, which is a tool that keeps
the PC client code up to the latest version everytime the user signs on to
the system. That other client PC can't ping, and can't connect.

One of the interesting things is that if I set the NIC to automatically
assign an IP, it works fine. It gets the IP, gateway, etc, but it still
won't work. It's like something is turning it off. That's why I agree that
there is some kind of Win2k rule.

Thanks.
