This what I do:

If some one is sending me the files, I give them a program to call (using
rcmd in ftp) which adds an entry on a data queue. Then I know the files are
ready. I monitor the data queue only. One of the parms is the file name,
or file name pattern if there is a set of files.. To keep the file names
unique, I tell them what to name (or rename) the files to. It doesn't
impact their system because the files are renamed in the ftp script. What
do they care?

If I am the sender, it is their problem to receive the files. I don't know
what they do or how they do it. They may provide me with the necessary
script to execute whatever is needed for them to do their task. My only
task is to send them the files and then to execute whatever script they want
me to.

Phil

Subject: FTP Problem !

Hi all,

Thank you for the replies, but here are more details
about this problem ....

Here is how my sample script looks like ....

100 firewalluserID password
200 sendpasv
300 quote site xxx.xxx.xxx.x
400 user userID password
500 cd in
600 lcd ediftpob
700 ascii
800 mput IS*
1000 ! CRTDUPOBJ OBJ(IS*) FROMLIB(EDIFTPOB)
OBJTYPE(*FILE) TOLIB(CUSTLIB) DATA(*YES)
1100 syscmd DLTF (EDIFTPOB/IS*)
1200 quit

I couldn't rename as I know only the file name
prefix (for Example: IS*) and the marker file technic
doesn't fit my criteria, because it submits for every
15 mins and quite often these sit in the queue and
executes all at once!

Is there anyway i can copy or move from one folder
to another folder on host system ?

or

Can i rename all the file extensions in bulk ?

or

Can anybody point me to a tool i can use ?

Thanks in Advance,
Ravi
