I ran it at home, (PIII, 866mhx, 256mb) as an upgrade from 98, for about 10
days with no real problems (1 BSOD, for the sake of tradition I guess).
Worked fine, ran quickly, but it is a huge install. Worked with Office 2K,
and the important stuff (NASCAR4, Falcon 3, Half Life).

I had to take reinstall 98 because the VPN client we use to get to the work
network via my cable modem (Cisco VPN 3000) would not install, it
interpreted XP as Win2k 5.1 which exceeded its 5.0x limitation and some fax
service seized control of my com port so I could not even fall back to dial
up to a RAS server.

I was able to install CAE v5r1beta and the three service packs, could 'run'
it, but could not connect to verify that it worked. Need CAE from home so
it was back to 98. I did not get to try the installation of Code/400, that
was next and obviously would have suffered the same comm problem as CAE.

I'll go back to XP as soon Cisco patches their installer, promised for May,
2001 but they may have inadvertently laid off the only guy that knows how to
do it.

XP did work with all my hardware fine, HP CD-RW, Logitech FF usb steering
wheel, MS FF usb joystick, netcam, Courier external v.everything modem,
internal zip, internal jaz, 3com ethernet nic, cable modem.

Subject: Windows XP Beta test

I was curious to know if anyone is testing Windows XP? I don't have it all
set up yet, but I will be testing it soon. I wanted to know if anyone has
found any issues that should prevent me from using it on my machine for
development. (Note: I still have my regular setup working)
