OLE DB features the following enhancements:

OLE DB provider updated to V2.5
Forward-only cursor types
Static cursor types (requires next OS/400 level)
Optimistic lock type
Recordset seek
Data types (BigInt, Large Objects (LOBs) which requires V4R5 or later
version of OS/400)
Unicode
Performance improvements
Custom properties (Force Translate, Default Collection, Catalog Library
List, Convert Date Time To Char)
Visual Basic 6.0 Controls for OLE DB
