In my experience, Word 2000 doesn't keep 'everything', just an awful lot, and not very predictably... The safest thing to do before you exchange a Word document with someone else, regardless of which version of Word you are using, is to export the document to an RTF (Rich Text Format) document. Then import the RTF document into a new Word document.
