Well I think removing the requirement for a scratch install is a big deal -- 
but then I don't look at things like most people.

Your comments are pretty close to my thoughts when I read your first post.  I 
wasn't sure if the system would simply change the open fields to char, leave 
them as open but inaccessible, or do some magic CCSID conversion.  Basically 
the reponsibility has been moved to the implementor.  If they know there will 
be no harmful effect then the installation has been made simpler.  But heaven 
help them if they are wrong!  Thanks for the update.
