Agreed, Jeff, I've had numerous questions that were PC/Windoze in nature, but wanted answered from the perspective of the midrange group.
A few days ago, I asked David whether ISN Citizens was intended to keep all non-technical issues off MIDRANGE-L. David responded that it was just for iSeries Nation stuff. I would like to suggest that, perhaps, there should be another list, so that the technical & non-technical issues that now appear on MIDRANGE-L can be segregated. It would appear that a non-technical MIDRANGE-L would see more traffic than the ISN Citizens is seeing right now. Maybe that's easier said than done.

Subject: Midrange expertise on non-midrange stuff
There are times when I want to ask a question or questions on an IT
topic that is not strictly a midrange topic, but I want midrange
professionals opinions on the matter. Where can I ask such questions
and not be off-topic?
Let me give you an example. For years, we have used Sidekick 98 as a
PIM (Personal Information Manager) for everyone. For various reasons it
is no longer satisfactory. I am interested in a single piece of PC
software that would 1) be a PIM (including to do lists, calendar,
contacts, etc), 2) be a CRM, 3) handle email and newsgroups, and 4) the
average 6th grader could learn and use.
If I ask on some PC forum, I will get what the world thinks about the
situation. I don't want the world's opinion, I want the opinion of
midrange professionals because I know how they think. What is
acceptable to the world is not necessarily acceptable to we midrangers.
We have a different standard. Am I making sense? Where can I ask this
kind of stuff?
Thanks.
