Yes.  Either has a client component that allows the client to connect to 
AS/400 data or as a host component that allows AS/400 HLL applications to 
connect to ODBC compliant databases (e.g., SQL-Server, Sybase, Oracle, etc).  
Again, many vendors have done so.

Yes.  But why would they since there is a better DB provided with the 
system?  Since the DB is built into the machine rather than part of the OS 
or an additional product, Oracle would need to have a truly outstanding DB 
in order to compete.  Since they don't, they can't.

Build the appropriate where-used space -- see next item.

To stop people who have no business buggering around with it.  If you want 
the ILE information then you have two choices:
        1/ Pay IBM lot's of money
        2/ Pitch a business case for a new ILE compiler that is so 
compelling for IBM that they provide the details (either free or for a 
nominal sum) because your compiler is such a wonderful thing that IBM want 
to make it available on the AS/400.  (With apologies to Oscar Wilde.)

Yes.  UDDS, DSM, embedded printer codes, spool writer exit program.  Unless 
you mean bypassing the Workstation Controller in which case what would be 
the point?

No idea of the top of my head.  But why would that be needed now?  There are 
better file transfer methods available.  What was at the other end of the
