What if I call ChgDa with a decimal variable:
 DCL  DecVar  Dec(5,2)
ChgVar &DecVar Value(22.23)
Call chgda ('NUMB      BUCK      ' &DecVar )
/* boom ? */

good point re chgdtaara auto mapping from 15,5 to the actual dim of the dec
dtaara.

a problem, buck, with the generic cl approach: a decimal dtaara can be 24,9.
rpg supports such a packed decimal value.  cl does not.  only goes to 15,5.
