Good points, but, I attended the review put on in New Orleans after that
747 went down in Metarie in 82'ish.  The EMS directors for the region
actually made a major point of emphasizing that the press had acted
unilateraly and that the local medical facilities had to pull folks from
other functions jus tto handle the huge onslaught of people queueing up fo
rblocks to give blood....and it was the EMS folks that brought up the time
lag effect as well.

SPeaking of blood and the Red Cross (who handles the blood network in the
US)...they're going from a AS/400 to a Oracle based system...if they're
not already there by now...
