Ken, I followed-up on your Cognos lead. Their current market focus is Business Intelligence. The Gartner report on Cognos described how they've integrated a number of otherwise loosely coupled products and technologies into an Enterprise Business Intelligence framework. Since I'm a vendor in the Web tools market, their "Web Portal" interested me. It apparently provides a browser based interface to their business intelligence server(s) - which either generate or provide access to HTML formatted reports. That's a minimum $50,000 solution. I also noticed that IBM has just started marketing a Web interface to their Content Manager On-Demand product. It was also priced at $50,000. For those who aren't familiar with On-Demand, it's an IBM product that indexes and archives spool files. The Web interface cost is in addition to the base product which on the iSeries sells for $30,000 - I think. Nathan M.
