First of all, I don't know much about tape drives and AS400 hardware in general so bear with me. Once in a while our back up needs to go across two tapes on one machine. We have a tape drive that holds multiple tapes and is hooked up to two AS400s (the backup is done through a couple fancy CL programs). When this backup does go across two tapes for the one machine, the other system doesn't get backed up. Is there a way to monitor when the tapes are being switched so we can initialize the tape before continuing the backup?
