Overpriced it may be (or maybe not), but that does not necessarily follow
from the pricing model. You have an analogous situation in the drugs
industry. It costs a huge amount in R&D to bring a new drug to market. That
investment must eventually be recouped or there would be no new drugs. The
choice is between a flat price which would deprive people in poorer
countries of the most advanced medicines or a differential system in which
consumers in the richer nations pay more.
