There were three Redbooks, AS/400 Communication Definition Examples I, II,
and III
I think you may find an example in the first book or the second.
Unfortunately only the third book (from 1994) seems to be available
online.

I'm trying to create a BSC line to talk to an old IBM Series/1 using a
single line BSC card. I'm not As400 expert BUT does someone have a short
(working) program to receive data from the BSC line on the AS400? SO I can
use *PGM instead of *RJE which I cant get to make the LINE,CTL,DEV stay
active. Help greatly appreciated
