Can I access member RETURN of file ESN via SQL embedded in RPG/400?

Scenario: File ESN has different kinds of notes for different kinds of BPCS
files & I am finding some notes apparently exist in member ESN of file ESN
for customer orders etc. that do not exist any more, and I am working on
doing something about that.

RMA;s (Return Material Authorization) stored in member RETURN of various
files whose *FIRST member is for standard new customer orders. I was
wondering if the kind of analysis I doing in each *FIRST to find old garbage
records we not need any more could also be done against member RETURN of
these files.

I know I can do it with RPG/400.
I was wondering if SQL embedded in RPG/400 can access by member or if this is
outside of SQL reality.

I am trying to clean up garbage from our data base, in which initial step is
get a handle on where it is, then next step is best software tools to get the
job done, possibly different techniques for different scenarios.
