How true. For instance, I don't use CHGOBJOWN anymore. I use CHGOWN
'/QSYS.LIB/MYLIB.LIB/*' NEWOWN(GOD). I just like the generic *
capabilities. And as Patrick Henry said 'I regret that I have but one
asterisk.' Enjoy your weekend.

It shouldn't be necessary to say this, but (effectively) EVERYTHING is IFS
on the iSeries. It isn't "separate" from user libraries and licensed
programs and documents and streamfiles and user profiles and everything
else that can be seen; all of those things are *IN* the IFS.

It just seems to be too often that "the IFS" is written about as if it's
unrelated to QSYS or QDLS or whatever. By definition from the IFS
Introduction manual: "The integrated file system is a part of OS/400 that
supports stream input/output and storage management similar to personal
computer and UNIX operating systems, while providing an integrating
structure over all information stored in the AS/400."

"...all information..."

When talking about the IFS, it must be remembered that it covers multiple
file systems and each one can have different characteristics.

Sorry. I just get nervous when I see this over and over.
