This is entirely my fault.  It hadn't occurred to me that putting the dates
in the answer  would be misleading.  Many of the answers currently in there
are brazen extracts from the archives; I try to give credit where it is due.
Including the date and original author just seemed like the right thing to
do.  You get to judge if the answer is stale, and also to research the
original thread if you think it would help.  That was my intent, anyway.

Since this is an ongoing process, do you think I should omit the date when I
put an archive answer in the FAQ?  Please!  Any suggestion is a good one.  A
FAQ is useless if it confuses more than it helps...
