| Here's the sequence I followed:
| GO SAVE
| 21
| Screen ENDSBS End Subsystem, just hit ENTER
| Immediate failure with message "Error occured with the
| option", and "21"
| displayed on the
| command line
| WRKJOB
| 10
| Screen shows only 3>>WRKJOB and the "bottom" indicator at
| the bottom
| of the screen.

| After you get the failure message, enter the WRKJOB command.
| Now take option 10 (Job log) and
| press F10 and
| then F18 (F18 may be Shift-F6,
| depending on your keyboard). Now you are at the bottom of your job log.

Roll back a screen.

| Read from the bottom up to find the cause of the problem.

Next part is important. You will see many messages, but only one or two are
the one(s) causing your problem.

I've never seen a message worded like you're getting on a backup. And
sounds like others here haven't either, gaging by the replies. That makes
it a little tougher, but not impossible. Normally this list has seen many
of the error messages posted on the list, a few thousand times, and can
identify the exact cause on the first reply. Such may not be the case here,
because your message doesn't indicate a problem that sounds like "you're
trying to save the entire system, but you're not at the console", or
something like that.

| If you are unsure of what you are reading, post it here
| and we'll try and help. To get more
| help on an error message, place the cursor on the line in
| question and press
| F1.

One point... You NEED to know where the console is, regardless of your
backup strategy. (The 400 is REALLY RELIABLE, but odds are, yer gonna hafta
IPL some day...;-) Don't know enough about PC Console, myself, but would
assume it's under "subsystem" QCTL on the WRKACTJOB, as other's have said.

You're just corn-fused, by all the new terminology.

But if you give up THAT easy, you'll always remain a newbie. With time,
you'll find that a person who can read (and I presume you can, or you
wouldn't have found this list.. RDLMAO!), can trouble-shoot most questions,
with basic familiarity with how the system works. (Unless you press F1=Help
on a message, and the additional help text says "Contact your
administrator", which is YOU and ME, pal...!) Most messages give sufficient
info to troubleshoot a problem. But until you get basic familiarity, it
will appear to be all uphill.

I worked on the 38/400/i for about 20 years before I found this list. You
are SO LUCKY to be WAY ahead of most folks...
