Nightly we target data libraries with SAVLIB based on the save while active
principles from Al Barsa's COMMON session. Non-static source and program
libraries are done with straight SAVLIB.

We perform a weekly IPL and SAVE menu option 21. I established the practice
back when we had nothing running on the system. Now it's assumed that we
have to have seven or eight hours down time on the weekend. It's time you
can't take back once you give it up, but usually you can hold the line if
you've already staked the claim.

Within the businesses I've supported I've found that monthly demands aren't
much different than weekly demands. It's just as inconvenient for the
business if I claim a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday for
maintenance/backup at month end as it is at the end of every week.
