Dear Mark,

"Windows only printers" typically understand a unique printer data stream
created by a particular Windows operating system environment printer driver.
This means that you cannot use the OS/400 feature Host Print Transform or
the Client Access PDT feature to format your OS/400 spool files for printing
on this type of printer.

If you were to configure a Client Access PC5250 print session that was not
using Host Print Transform (uncheck the box Transform Print Data to ASCII on
AS/400), the OS/400 EBCDIC data would be transferred natively from the
AS/400 to the PC running Client Access. If you also make sure that you do
not select the Use PDT checkbox, Client Access will convert your EBCDIC data
into a Windows format known as GDI on the PC running Client Access. The GDI
format is the generic input format required by Windows print drivers. You
will be able to use the Epson Stylus Color 777 Windows print driver to
format the AS/400 data correctly for printing on the Epson printer.

The only problem I have seen with this suggestion in the past is that the
"Windows only" printers sometimes will refuse to print AS/400 generated
spool files that are formatted to use full page coverage (ie no unprintable
borders).
