We aren't fully utilizing the functionality of it at this time, it was a
project back in late 1999 and something else became a higher priority, I
don't remember what it was anymore...  Anyway, we are only sending down the
new orders from the 400 to the ODBC database so that they can ship them the
next day.  We were a little leery about attaching directly to the AS/400
database because we hadn't done it before so we opted for a download to a
server and attaching to that file.  I know, I know, we need to get with it a
bit more.  I'm glad you had this question because it revived the project for
us.  Hopefully, we'll be able to take it to the next level.  Good luck.

Are you using ODBC for the batch export?

We need real-time data.  As each shipment is processed, the export does an
INSERT into a table.  I have a trigger attached to the table to pick up the
data.  It then updates the estimated shipping on the order to the actual
shipping charge, assigns an invoice number, and prints out an invoice at the
scale to attach to the box (except for customers who request mailing).
