IBM has a web page which does a nice job of explaining
what you're seeing. It's at:

http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/lpar/hvlptask.htm

We just migrated a 510 and a 720 to an lpar'd 820.
When we do a WRKSYSACT, we see a task call HVLPTASK.
Normally, it uses 1-3% of the system. This afternoon, it was taking
anywhere from 25%-48% of the system.

Does anyone know what this task is and what is it's function?

TIA
Jim K
