Based on my last email to the rpg list it won't work at all unless you
reference every input field that the array shares address of - bummer.

Not sure if this will always work in RPG
RPG input specs (explicit or implicit) are really "moves from the i/o
buffer" to pgm work areas
You do not address the i/o buffers directly
RPG does not guarantee input fields are mapped into program work areas in
the same order on the file or necessarily contiguously on same byte
boundaries as the actual record buffer
