I went through this just recently as our production is no longer on the
same machine as development. Unfortunately it is WAD for the dates to be
set to zeros and the sequence numbers to be resequenced when FTPing source
files, and there is no way to turn this off. Also, the member type and
text don't get set either.

I wrote a command to send a source member from one system to another,
including changing the member name or source file or library.

A high-level overview of what happens:

1. Create two physical data files in QTEMP.

2. In one file, store the requested remote library, file, and member name
along with the member type and text.

3. In the other file, store the member itself. This is done using an RPG
program so the sequence numbers and dates are preserved.

4. Establish a connection to the requested remote system.

5. Run a command on the remote system to create two physical files in QTEMP.

6. PUT the two files from QTEMP on the local system to QTEMP on the remote
system.

7. Run a command on the remote system which:

    A. Adds the member to the source file if it does not already exist.
(The source file itself must already exist.)

    B. Copies the data from the data file in QTEMP to the source member,
preserving the sequence numbers and dates.

    C. Set the member type and text to the values from the local system.

    D. Delete files from QTEMP.

There is a lot of error checking that I do to make the whole process quite
robust.

I created a PDM option to make the command very easy to use from WRKMBRPDM.
