With all due respect, Jeff is not correct. QRCLSPLSTG controls when the
member is deleted. The member is cleared when printing is complete,
assuming that SAVE(*NO) was specified.

If you want to test, generate a DASD filling spooled file, and then delete
it. You will get your DASD back (almost) immediately. You will not have
to wait the number of days specified in QRCLSPLSTG.

That is not quite correct, when the member is cleared is determined by
system value QRCLSPLSTG.

The output queue entry is removed, but the spooled data may still reside in
a pf-member in the QSPL library; the first problem is locating which one,
the second problem is regenerating a current spoolfile from it. I seem to
recall achieving this several years ago using CPYF.

Good luck.

Jeff

No.

When a spooled file has completed printing specifying SAVE(*NO), the member
is cleared from the QSPL library. This is why IBM goes to such pain to
send you messages for printer jams, etc.

Is it possible to undelete a deleted spoolfile? We've accidentally
deleted a print run for checks and recreating it will be a pain.
