I think Leif's suggestion is a good one - preserves directory structure and
takes up less space.

However, I want to caution you about a bad habit that can come of this set
up.  (Not to say that this will happen to your client, but I have seen it
happen to others.)  There is sometimes an impulse to stop doing tape backups
since you have this "hot site" backup.  And while the hot site backup may be
great for recovering from disk crashes; earthquakes, tornados, fires, and
floods don't know not to destroy both systems...
