Maybe I am starting an invalid rumor. I thought RM/Cobol was dropped.

But from the V5R1 manual:
Extensive Run-time Application Function
Operating System/400 is a functionally-rich platform for applications.
Because it is enabled to run a wide range of applications, customers can
easily grow their application base as their business needs grow. The
extensive run-time function integrated into the OS/400 licensed program
enables application programs created with these languages, utilities, and
support:

ILE RPG for iSeries
...
RM/COBOL-85 for the AS/400

And searching the IBM website for rm/cobol gives 44 hits. The first three
were the manuals - in DBCS! But alas, other than very little German, I
only speak English.

This wouldn't be by any chance RM Cobol would it? There used to be two
Cobol compilers for the 400. The other one was called RM Cobol. With that
version you didn't use DDS. There were a lot of different things you could
do in the code itself to affect the display of the fields - quite
different. Haven't seen it since ?1985?. By the way - can you tell what
version of OS/400 is the last to support RM Cobol?

I have a client in San Antonio using a package called JobScope for custom
manufacturers. It's entirely a COBOL application, since it came from an HP
platform originally. The client does not have the source code, nor do they
have the COBOL/400 compiler. The software company does all their mods and
ships them for installation.

I understand that the software also runs on an NT platform, but is still
written in COBOL.
