Yes and no.

To setup a zebra, you must configure a remote outq. However, you can then
set up a virtual printer descriptions, using a command like:

CRTDEVPRT DEVD(BOGUS) DEVCLS(*VRT) TYPE(3812) MODEL(1) ONLINE(*NO) FONT(11
 TRANSFORM(*YES) MFRTYPMDL(*IBM3812)

assuming of course your outq is named BOGUS and is in QUSRSYS. This will
allow you to access this outq through Operations navigator, and satisfy any
program that expects a device instead of an outq. (I actually use this
method for accessing QEZJOBLOG and QEZDEBUG through OpsNav)

IBM's support site has plenty of info on doing this, as does the printing
manual.

Good luck.

-----------

Is it possible to use CRTDEVPRT for Zebra barcode printers, just like an HP
printer? Or does CRTDEVPRT only work for device type 3812? Am I stuck with
using RMTOUTQ's for barcode printers?

I am currently using RMTOUTQ's with Zebra printer and JetDirects on a couple
of printers, and although they work, I would really prefer to have device
descriptions.
