I have a library on a V5R1 machine containing objects compiled at
various releases from V4R3 to V5R1, but all with a target release of
V4R4 or lower. If I create a save file and save the library to it with
SAVLIB TGTRLS(V4R4M0), the save completes successfully. But when I view
the save file, it shows "Release level . . . : V4R5M0". And, indeed,
a colleague can't restore it on a V4R4 machine.

I've searched the archives, the web, and Usenet about this, but to no
avail. I do know there's something buggy, though, because if I specify
TGTRLS(V4R3M0), instead of failing elegantly with an "unsupported
release" message, the SAVLIB command dumps.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Martin.
