Bob:
I do the exact same thing you do for the same reason. I use my handheld
device to check my email frequently and do not want all the list server
traffic when I am connected on a 19200 connection.

Or, have 2 accounts. One that you use for all of your mailing lists,
and the other for non-list mail.

This has the added advantages of making it very easy to separate out the
high volume mail and any spam that comes over it either got mined from a
list or is a dictionary send.

The last advantage and the reason I went to this schema is if you use a
hand held device to check mail, you do not want the mailing list stuff.

Bob Crothers

Out of Office Assistant is only available when Outlook is used with an
Exchange server. It does have the option to respond only to Internal
mail and it can be set up to ignore Internet mail. You do have to look
at the advanced options.

The only other option is to unsubscribe from the Mailing List.

|of course it is on purpose. He just didn't realize that outlook (?)
|screws him (and us). I think one has to explicitly tell outlook that
|one is on vacation. Does anybody know a remedy? is there any?
