John,

You can create a simple CL that calls your RPG subprocedure. There
are limitations with updating the same file from within a trigger. It
should
work if you use a non-shared open in another program that actually
does the add from the trigger.

Group,

I have a requirement to replicate product master records (in realtime)
from
one division to another, on an ongoing basis. The records are all
contained
within the same PF & member, with a primary key on Division# and
Product
Code. A trigger pgm seems like an obvious solution, but there is a
small
problem. The only compiler available to me is RPG, and an RPG program
cannot
be called recursively. The OS is V4R5, so an SQL trigger is not an
option.

I've considered:

1) trigger does a SBMJOB
2) trigger writes entry to DTAQ monitored by server job
3) exit pgm to receive/process journal entries

Any other suggestions?

Regards,

John Taylor
