Depending on the size of these files, how often they're transferred, and
how many users are involved, copying the FTP'd file to the AS/400 QNTC
directory might be worth a shot. This would allow you to copy the file from
the AS/400 onto a PC drive.

The QNTC directory is more or less a virtual drive in reverse - the
directory you see on the AS/400 is actually the PC drive mapped onto the
AS/400.

A good compromise in this case might be to arrange a shared drive on a
server that all users have access to rather than trying to set up lots of
QNTC definitions to handle each individual user. You could split up the
shared drive by a user/subdirectory mechanism if necessary and have the
network people arrange for the shares to happen automatically at startup
time by whatever scripting mechanism they use.
