I have always been of the opinion that we should pick our own adapter
address.  This is to prevent endless rework when the original adapter
dies and has to be replaced with a new one.  Of course, one could
always choose the number of the first adapter which, since the
original is now broken and theoretically never to be used again, is a
number never to be duplicated anywhere else in the world.

The key, I suppose, is NEVER use the example in the book word-for-word.

Uh, how many locations out there use the default network name that
comes with your AS/400?
