Amazingly the genuine posters in the Usenet thread don't seem to have
realised that they're talking to marketing 'droids. I suppose the people on
the news group are more used to seeing postings from free mail accounts and
from people with no track record than we are. But still there is the
evangelical tone and the determination to mention the product name, the
link and the marketing bullet points in every message.

I like the observation from one of the genuine posters that he wasn't happy
with the ad banner appearing on every pdf page. So much for great free
software. It's just a come on for their $$$ versions.
