RE: Installing V5R1 over V4R5

Are you including back-up times in that estimate, and did you follow the
guide that came
with V5R1, since there are so many variables to consider.  If you did, I was
estimated on
a 820 at 12 hours (NOT including back-ups) - and it was nearly 13 hours
before I went home,
and then we have spent about 10 hours this week cleaning up what did not
work the same
as it used to work.

Be warned, check not only your software (canned and in-house API's) for
compliancy,
but check ALL your hardware (emulation cards, non-IBM printers, IBM
printers,
tape drives, I/O cards, and such to see if V5R1 still supports them)
This was the first O/S upgrade I can remember
that we lost backwards functionality.

We are in the planning stages of upgrading our model 530 AS/400.  As part
of this process we have determine that it will take aprrox. 12 hours to
complete the install of the operating system.  Could anyone tell me if we
are way out of line with these numbers.
