Steven, you are trying to cram a double precision floating point number
into an 8 byte zoned integer. Try defining EMID as floating point (17F 4
instead of 8S 0 if you're using DDS) and use the keyword FLTPCN(*DOUBLE).
You'll see that EMID still takes 8 bytes in the record.

Good. It gives you a chance to produce some magic for your user. Once you
have been through the pain you should be able to produce a slick procedure.
