How many cables to you need for an entry-level box?
And can't IBM figure out to ship that?

I understand your argument when we are talking about a
$5M box to server a 1000 users, with connections to SNA,
multiple modems, tape drives, printers, etc, but "a simple
250" entry box?

Now, of course, one should not ask the barber
if one needs a haircut :-)
