Not officially in SQL. I assume you're talking SQL. But you could fake it
with UNION SELECT on the physicals, selecting the key fields for each that
make up the multiple formats, then concat the remaining fields, maybe
putting in a 'format ID' in each record. Then sort on those key fields.

select key1_1, key1_2, 'FILE1', field1_1 || field1_2 || ... from file1
union select key2_1, key2_2, 'FILE2', field2_1 || field2_2 || ... from file2
.
.
.
order by 1,2

Then your program can use HLL structures that correspond to each 'format
ID' (RPG II, anyone?). The concatenated data can be moved into the
respective structure.
