Yes.....there is a group in IBM ( I'll try to locate contact info if you
contact me directly ) that will, for a fee (no guarantees - less than $500)
tweak the bits and bytes in the tape header to let you recover most of the
data.  You used to be able to do this yourself back on S36.  Please don't
ask how I learned these things.
